I am a Machine Sewing Skills and Dressmaking Tutor offering classes for the complete beginner or the more experienced. Classes are held at various colleges and shops in Cambridgeshire and Norfolk.
Textiles and sewing have been an important part of my life since I was old enough to sit at a sewing machine. My working life has been involved with the garment industry either designing and making clothes, teaching dressmaking and sewing skills or managing the supply of haberdashery and buttons in retail and wholesale companies.
Along the way I have built up a comprehensive knowledge of sewing and sewing machinery. I now want to share this knowledge so that anyone, who wants to use their sewing machine to its fullest advantage, can learn how. No matter how old or new your sewing machine is, I can help you become really confident in its use. I am available to give private lessons or if you run a sewing or quilt group I can come a give a workshop on exactly what your members want to learn. You can also check out the list of classes I will be taking in 2017 around Cambridgeshire and Norfolk.
I will also be teaching Dressmaking bringing my considerable professional experience to help you make clothes that look good and really fit. I am now also teaching how to use your Overlocker and how to make Quilts using an Overlocker. These are very exciting new courses which have already been received with great enthusiasm.
To add to my skills I have just completed a qualifying course to become a Licensed Martha Pullen Heirloom Sewing Teacher. Martha Pullen is the world wide expert in heirloom sewing by machine. My licence allows me to teach the techniques and projects from the Martha Pullen Sewing School. If you would love to add vintage and fine sewing techniques to your projects but are put off by the hours of hand sewing needed then I can teach you how to do them all by machine.
