Classes in 2019
Saturday 1st June – 10.00am – 4.00pm – Learn to Love your Overlocker
Learn to Love your Overlocker This day work shop is for everyone who has an Overlocker but is unsure how to use it, finds the threading a nightmare or cannot get the tension right. During the work shop, threading will be made easy and tension explained so that it can be set correctly. You will then see how to adjust everything to ensure your Overlocker makes a perfect stitch for everything you want to make.
Don’t leave it in the cupboard, come and find out how to use it and see what it can do for all your sewing projects.
Saturday 29th June – 10.00am – 4.00pm – Free Motion Machine Embroidery and More
Even the most basic sewing machine can be used to create decorative effects and providing the feed dogs on your machine can be lowered or covered, you can also do Free Motion Machine Embroidery and Free Motion machine Quilting. During this workshop you will learn how to do Free Motion embroidery (FME) work.
If your machine also has some decorative stitches which you have never used then come and explore many ideas for decorative sewing by machine. All the techniques can then be used to enhance the projects that you like to make
Using FME you will be able to use two methods and learn how to achieve success with different fabrics and threads. You will also explore decorative machine techniques such as using metallic and embroidery threads, trying the built-in decorative stitches on your machine, using a twin needle and learn how to make cords and braids
Saturday 6th July – Advanced Overlocker Techniques
If you have an Overlocker that you use to only to sew seams and neaten raw edges have you thought that you could do much more? When you got your Overlocker, did it come with extra feet that you have either not used or if you did it was not a good result?
If the answer is yes to either question then join this course and find out just what you can do with your Overlocker. You can experiment with decorative threads to produce lots of different edging. Make very fine French seams and attach lace edgings.
With the extra feet you can stitch on beads and sequins, insert piping in one row of stitching and use wire or nylon line to give a wire edge to ribbon and other fabrics. There are also other feet and their use will be covered as well
If you don’t have any extra feet then there will be an opportunity to try them out to see if you want to buy one.
All the classes are very popular so do book early to make sure you have a place.
More courses are being planned for the rest of the year so do check back soon
