Sew for Christmas – A 4 week course starting on Tuesday 6th November – A Daytime Class 10.30 – 12.30
Why not join this course making crafted machine sewn projects for Christmas. It will be an opportunity to learn machine sewing techniques while creating some unique items. The projects will cover machine applique and using decorative stitches. If you are new to machine sewing, this course is an ideal opportunity to learn new skills and successfully complete a project. If you have some experience or perhaps you have upgraded your machine and have not used the sewing machine to its full potential then this course will let you try everything out while working on projects for Christmas.
There is a selection of projects to make and there should be time to complete some of these Notes will be available so the others can be completed in your own time
Sew with Knits a 4 week course begins Thursday 1st November 7.30 – 9.30pm
Sewing with knit fabric is not difficult just different. Knit fabrics such jersey, sweat – shirting, fleece and other stretchy fabric just need other techniques for your garment to be successful.
During the course you will learn the necessary techniques of sewing stretch/knit fabrics on your sewing machine which to enable you to assemble and finish a variety of garments. If you are confident in the use of your Overlocker then this can be used on the course as well as your sewing machine. There will be time to make a simple skirt without a pattern and then make a top or dress from a paper pattern of your choice.
Next Steps with your Sewing Machine – Saturday 10th November – 10.30 -4.30
If you only use the basic controls on the sewing machine for straight and zig zag stitching , then this course will explore all the other aspects of your sewing machine. If the machine has a number of different presser feet but you are not really sure what they do and how they fit on the machine, you will be using all the feet supplied with the machine, including how to make a buttonhole. You will also be able to try out the stitches that are built in to your machine.
There will also be time to learn all about the different needles and threads that can be used on a sewing machine and the effects that can be created. There will also be the opportunity to try out your new skill by making a choice of project.
New Course – An Advanced Overlocker Course on Saturday 8th December 10.30 – 4.30pm
If you are using your Overlocker but think you could do more then how about some me time and forget all about Christmas Shopping. You can spend the day learning what else you can do with an Overlocker than just finishing edges. You may some extra feet that came with your Overlocker but have never used them. You can also experiment with decorative threads to produce lots of different edging. Make very fine French seams and attach lace. It will make you use your Overlockers for lots of projects.
