Learn to Sew with your Sewing Machine A 5 week course Starting on Wednesday 6th November 10.00 – 12.00
This course is for those who want to learn to sew by machine. It is also for those who have not sewn for a while and are returning to using their sewing machine. It is suitable for complete beginners or those with some experience.
Everyone will learn all about their sewing machine and how to use all the controls. They will learn about different threads and types and sizes of needle to be able to select the correct needle and thread for a project. They will also learn how to maintain the machine and what to do if it goes wrong.
Every week sewing skills will be developed while making something different. All the skills learnt can then be used in whatever area of sewing is of interest.
Start Making Clothes – A 5 week course Starting on Wednesday 6th November – 7.00 – 9.00
This will course will introduce to everyone who wants to make clothes that fit, to quick and easy sewing. Forget about tedious tacking, trying on, unpicking and then it still does not fit. Using methods from the fashion business, what you make will be so much more successful.
Using a paper pattern, fast professional sewing techniques and garment making skills, clothes will not only fit but look good. With this method of sewing clothes, the skills learnt can be used make other garments, building on the experience with each item made
Make a Skirt in a Day – Saturday 18th May 10.00 – 4.00
Would you love to make your own clothes but find it seems to take a long time, often does not fit well and then looks a bit “home -made”? Would you like to take a course but your time is limited?
If the answer is yes then why not join this course and find out how you can complete a skirt in just a day .
Using an easy to sew pattern you will learn how to alter the pattern to fit your measurements and then how to cut out and quickly prepare the skirt for construction. Then using fast professional techniques, you will make a skirt that fits you and that you are proud to wear.
Free Motion Machine Embroidery and More – Saturday 15th June – 10.00 – 4.00
Even the most basic sewing machine can be used to create decorative effects and providing the feed dogs on your machine can be lowered or covered, you can also do Free Motion Machine Embroidery and Free Motion machine Quilting. During this workshop you will learn how to do Free Motion embroidery (FME) work.
If your machine also has some decorative stitches which you have never used then come and explore many ideas for decorative sewing by machine. All the techniques can then be used to enhance the projects that you like to make
Using FME you will be able to use two methods and learn how to achieve success with different fabrics and threads. You will also explore decorative machine techniques such as using metallic and embroidery threads, trying the built-in decorative stitches on your machine, using a twin needle and learn how to make cords and braids
