Machine Sewing made Easy- A 5 week course starting on Wednesday 19th September – 10.00 – 12.00
This course is for those who want to learn to sew by machine. It is also for those who have not sewn for a while and are returning to using their sewing machine. It is suitable for complete beginners or those with some experience. Everyone will learn all about their sewing machine and how to use all the controls. They will learn about different threads and types and sizes of needle to be able to select the correct needle and thread for a project. They will also learn how to maintain the machine and what to do if it goes wrong.
Every week sewing skills will be developed while making something different. All the skills learnt can then be used in whatever area of sewing is of interest.
Learn to Love your Overlocker – Saturday 13th October – 10.00 – 4.00
This day work shop is for everyone who has an Overlocker but is unsure how to use it, finds the threading a nightmare or cannot get the tension right. During the work shop, threading will be made easy and tension explained so that it can be set correctly. You will then see how to adjust everything to ensure your Overlocker makes a perfect stitch for everything you want to make
There will be sessions on how to seam and neaten a variety of fabrics and do rolled hems. Also included in the course will be an opportunity to use the Overlocker to make simple projects using the Overlocker for most of the construction.
Start Making Clothes – A 5 week course Starting on Wednesday 7th November – 7.00 – 9.00
This will course will introduce to everyone who wants to make clothes that fit, to quick and easy sewing. Forget about tedious tacking, trying on, unpicking and then it still does not fit. Using methods from the fashion business, what you make will be so much more successful.
Using a paper pattern, fast professional sewing techniques and garment making skills, clothes will not only fit but look good. With this method of sewing clothes, the skills learnt can be used make other garments, building on the experience with each item made
